KEDIT and Linux
Mansfield Software Group is sometimes asked about the possibility of using
KEDIT on Linux and other UNIX systems. KEDIT is a Windows-only product, and
we have no plans for developing a Linux version. We have, however, heard from
several KEDIT for Windows users who have had success running KEDIT on Linux
using the Windows emulator, Wine.
- You should be aware that Mansfield Software Group supports KEDIT only
on Windows itself, and does not offer technical support for problems you may run
into while running KEDIT under Wine.
- One of our users has posted some technical notes on using KEDIT under
Wine here.
- Licensed users of KEDIT are
permitted to use KEDIT for Windows under Wine, since KEDIT's license agreement does not
restrict KEDIT's use to specific operating systems.
Note that KEDIT is a commercial program, and is not freeware, shareware, or open
source. KEDIT licences can be purchased via the the KEDIT order page.
